The Greek alphabet consists of 24 letters: 7 vowels and 17 consonants. Actually, the word 'alphabet' comes from the names of the first two letters of the Greek alphabet, 'alpha' ('α') and 'beta' ('β').

In Greek there are 7 letters that represent vowel sounds.
